Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: At one point in time, MJ was modified with OZ to be able to transform into a giant goblin-monster creature with crazy red fur and glowing yellow eyes. She had only transformed twice and they were both in situations of great duress. But in this form, she had superhuman strength, agility, reflexes, and speed, with phenomenal strength and uncontrollable rage. Of course, this was then supposedly "removed" by Reed Richards so.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? The same powers she had previously! Which means that at one point in time, through emotional conflict and then of her own will, she'll be transforming into this same, giant red goblin-monster (also known as the wolf-spider). She'll have the same abilities and whatnot and everything.

Character Personality:
Mary Jane Watson is a sweet girl and very easy to get along with, one of the few lucky ones coupled with beauty and brains. Most people often see her as a ditzy model-type who only scoots by on looks and nothing else, but MJ is very much more than that.

She is often called "Brainy Janey" for a reason. She's intelligent, a brilliant science student, and perceptive of the world around her. She's often seen with her head in a book and can often keep up with even Peter Parker in the world of science and chemistry. She's a girl that prefers studying to parties, writing reports to dancing, and attempting to actually get somewhere in life, something apparently unique to most students her age. However, that doesn't mean she isn't capable of having a social life or going out and being that type of butterfly. She can be seen at parties though she might prefer something else, she knows how to dress up and flirt around. It's possible, but doesn't define her.

Kind and responsible, MJ is not a pushover. She doesn't take crap from anyone, whether they be a friend or a bully or anything. If someone talks back to her, she'll respond in turn, if someone's rude or obnoxious, she'll give what's coming to them. She's clever with rhetoric and very witty, with a sassy sort of mouth that doesn't seem expected from a girl like her. However, she's quick to get angry, frustrated, or annoyed. She doesn't have a lot of patience and if an argument is happening around her, she's often the first to storm off, mostly out of sheer frustration at the idiocy. She doesn't every really get shouting angry though, unless someone really pushes her. More often than not, she'll just get annoyed or snarky, with a great amount of sarcasm in her words. She does not enjoy being screwed over, she does not allow herself to be messed with. However, she can also get rather awkward and uncomfortable too. While it doesn't show itself apparent like Peter's awkwardness does, MJ tends to babble and say nonsense when she's in an uncomfortable situation, or just get rather quiet. But if you wrong her, if you do something truly wrong, or if you harm or insult any of her friends, she won't hesitate to start a fight, become overly aggressive and take a book to someone's face. MJ can snap and when she does, it's not pretty.

And unfortunately, Mary Jane can also get very, very passive aggressive. When she's mad, she won't tell you, but you'll know. She'll get quiet, give angry looks, storm off without saying a single word. When she's wronged, she wants it to be apparent and it will be. MJ can get jealous very easily, regardless of whether she has a reason to be jealous. She also worries a great amount and tends to stress herself out to a certain point. Especially with what has happened to her thanks to being the girlfriend of Spider-Man, she has taken so much insanity and danger in her life that her tolerance is very short. So she worries about Spider-Man and herself and because of this, she can often be on edge in regards to certain situations. But that doesn't stop her from always wanting to be there, to be able to help the people she cares about. She's a ridiculously loyal friend. She'll play Betsy Ross if she has to. But there's always a snapping point for her. She refuses to sit by and let herself pretend everything is okay. MJ has a good grip on reality because of this -- she makes sure she has a good grip on reality, that she doesn't delude herself into thinking that everything is perfect.

But it never really stops the nightmares.

Mary Jane doesn't quite have the ability to communicate her feelings well, as she'll admit herself. She bottles up her words, scarcely says anything, and as written above, gets passive-aggressive and then explodes. She can freak out and do reckless, stupid things, like running away from home without thinking, regardless of her own safety. But she's working on it. Having come from a rather miserable home life, whenever MJ finds a glimmer of happiness, she's determined to grab it and never let it get away.

Regardless though, MJ is sassy, friendly, and easy to get along with, reminiscence of her main canon self. Like all of Peter Parker's friends, she's smart-mouthed and enjoys strange jokes, especially ones regarding being grounded and how long she has left. She's excitable, can get overly gleeful, just like any teenage girl her age and when she wants to express her happiness, gosh, she does express it. Mary Jane is, as said before, ridiculously clever and bright for her age, though of course, not as smart as Peter. But she's the kind of girl who's determined to get somewhere, determined to figure out the truth and in her own way, help people the way Spider-Man does. But that usually leads her to making really stupid decisions, putting herself in the face of danger more times than one could count. She's not afraid to do something if necessary, but she often doesn't think of her safety first. As was said, she's reckless and often jumps into situations headfirst with her eyes closed.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: n/a
Character Plans: As MJ has interest in being a reporter or journalist in canon, I want to be able to touch on that, especially with all of the political nonsense and drama that goes down. I also want her to be able to develop on her own, instead of just being the damsel or the sidekick. Plus, the trauma in regards to her returning to wolf-spider.

Appearance/PB: Jackpot

[ the video opens up to the baseball diamond and a red-headed girl. she looks obviously nervous with the way her eyes keep darting about and she pauses, biting her lip before actually saying anything. ]

My name -- My name is Mary Jane Watson. My friends call me MJ. I-I can't really breathe. In fact, I'm feeling really nauseous and I don't exactly know where I am. [ the camera shakes violently for a second and her eyes squeeze shut, almost desperately ] Okay, I kind of know where I am. Siren's Port -- That's in Canada.

They said it's in Canada.

I can't be in Canada. My mom, you see, my mom -- I'm all she has left. And I need to get back to New York. Does anyone know how to get back to Queens? Like a plane or -- or something -- [ she catches herself, realizing what she's saying and stops. it looks like she's really trying not to freak out. ] Whatever you want with me, I can't do it.

I'm just. I think I'm in shock right now. These things don't happen to me. I'm -- I'm normal. I go to high school. I don't get -- get kidnapped into Canada and I... [ a pause ]

I'd really just like to go home and see my mom. So. Thanks for listening...

Third Person Sample
It was like someone threw her skull against the ground. That was how she felt when she awoke. But there was no head wound and she wasn't bleeding, just disoriented, nauseous, and scared. She sat up, rubbing her forehead and glanced around. It didn't take long her to realize that this -- uh -- wasn't... Mary Jane fought the urge to vomit as she glanced around. She was on a baseball diamond in the middle of some deserted field. It was cold, she realized after a moment, colder than New York during the winter. She shivered and then shook, torn between cold and that horrible sick feeling.

Where was she? This wasn't Peter's party -- this was no way Peter's party unless Tony Stark got a hold of it and decided to practice his hologram system (that she had no idea if he actually had) on them. Or maybe she was dreaming. That definitely seemed like a liable answer.

She hesitated, before bringing a hand to her arm and pinched herself.

No dice. She was still here.

She had to think rationally. She couldn't freak out. (She was in the middle of freaking out). Okay, so she was in some mysterious baseball field and she had been kidnapped (or drugged to hallucinate all of this) and it was dark and cold and this place looked even worse than Queens. But here she was with no idea what to do. Maybe Peter could find her. Peter always knew when she needed help, he was always there for her. Like on Queensboro, but... she couldn't just sit and wait and depend on him.

She didn't -- she didn't want to be another Gwen. Gwen who had been killed and then came back to life somehow.

Mary Jane got to her feet after a moment, watching her breath frost before slowly making her way off the field. She needed to find a phone. Find a phone, call home. (How she wished she had something on her that could be used as a weapon. Maybe she could throw her shoe at someone? But then she would be left shoeless.) As she walked, it was easy to see the single light that flickered in the darkness, illuminating a dugout. She could just barely make out figures within, and at this point, she had no idea whether it was a good idea to check it out. What if they were thugs? Or murderers? Or monsters waiting for her to move closer and kill her? Or vampires or werewolves or -- she had to stop that train of thought before she freaked herself out even more unnecessarily.

Her hand twitched and she grabbed at her wrist.

Ms. Watson, think calmly. Rationally. She had to remind herself again, but even that was proving difficult. This entire situation seemed so unreal, so terrifying, like out of a horror movie and she was that one girl who was left behind to be killed first. (She definitely wasn't helping her nerves with thoughts like this.) But all she wanted to do was curl up and cry and there was a residual spark of terror and then something almost dangerous that furled under her thoughts. She had felt it when she thought back on Harry, she had felt it when she daydreamed in the middle of class, and she had no idea what it was, but she knew it wasn't something good. It wasn't something that she could tap into or allow to wither out even further. So she forced down the sensation deep under her fear and nerves and mental screaming.

MJ's eyes went to the dugout again, and then to the entrance that led out to the street. Neither seemed safe. While the streets were lit, there was something ominous about the darkness, something she knew wasn't safe. She didn't get quite the same feeling from the dugout and once more, she glanced over at that slightly dim area as a person stepped out, as if waiting for her.

Her breath was getting caught in her throat and she bit back a choking sound -- tears.

(She just wanted to go home. She had no idea where she was or what she was going to do or anything. She just wanted to go back to Peter and Gwen and Johnny.)

After what seemed like forever, Mary Jane Watson stepped away from the broken metal fence and started to walk towards the dugout. Lost and abandoned Mary Jane with no way home.
